February 3, 2004: Crash Course in Polite Conversation

If viewers think Nathan has it rough dealing with his ultracompetitive dad, wait till they meet Dan's old man. Talk about the apple not falling far from the tree! When Dan's parents show up for an unannounced visit, his overbearing father, Royal, makes the origins of his son's boorish behavior painfully clear. But while Royal may help explain Dan's and Nathan's oversize egos, Lucas's even-tempered disposition makes an argument for the other side of the nature vs. nurture debate. Who said that a teen soap couldn't delve into psychological theory?
